STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Asian ADRs gain 0.3 pct; HSBC up

HONG KONG, Sep 14 (Reuters) Asian stocks listed on Wall Street <.bkas> climbed 0.3 percent after a broker upgrade of U.S. investment banks helped lift financial shares such as HSBC, while record high oil prices kept energy names buoyed.

HSBC Holdings climbed 1.0 percent, South Korea's top lender Kookmin Bank added 1.5 percent and oil and gas producer PetroChina gained 0.8 percent.

Shares in U.S. investment banks including Lehman Brothers firmed on Thursday after a Bernstein Research analyst said their values had fallen to a 10-year low, helping lift U.S. markets. [ID:nN13359642] MSCI's measure of Asia Pacific stocks excluding Japan <.miapj0000pus> advanced 0.5 percent on Thursday to a 1-{ month closing high and looked set to end higher for a fourth straight week.

It has risen 20 percent from a five-month trough plumbed on Aug. 17 and was just 4.6 percent below the July 24 life high.
