Rai Sikh students can get admission under SC quota

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) The Punjab government has allowed Rai Sikh students to get admission in educational institutions under the Schedule Caste (SC) quota, subject to the condition that they would submit the SC certificate later.

Instructions in this respect were issued today by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to the state administrative department, which in turn would issue a circular to the deputy commissioners.

The Rai Sikh community had recently been included in the SC category by the Union Government. However certain administrative modalities related to the community was still being carried out by the state government.

This assurance was given by Mr Badal to a 24- member delegation Rai Sikh community led by Mr Sher Singh Ghubaya, Chief Parliamentary Secretary which called upon him here today.

Mr Badal also assured the delegation that all their other legitimate demands would be considered sympathetically.
