President, Vice-President greet people on Ganesh Chaturthi

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari today greeted the people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, which will be celebrated tomorrow.

Mrs Patil said ''Ganesh Chaturhti is a festival, which brings the people together in gaiety and happiness.'' She wished the people wisdom, prosperity and good fortune in the year ahead.

Prof Ansari said this ''festival celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, who symbolizes wisdom, prosperity and happiness. Lord Ganesha is invoked before any auspicious work begins and for removing obstacles on the path of spiritual and material success.

Ganesh Chaturthi reminds us of the importance of imbibing the sublime and eternal values in our lives to usher in a humane society.'' This festival ''brings peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives.'' UNI
