Officials told to implement Nirmal Gram scheme at fast pace

Ludhiana Sept 14 (UNI) Punjab Principal Secretary Rural Development Satish Chandra today directed the officers of rural development department to cover maximum villages under the Centre's Nirmal Gram Purskar Yojana for providing latrines in all the rural houses.

These directions were given by Mr. Satish Chandra in a meeting of ADCs (D) and DDPOs held under his chairmanship to review the progress of the schemes here today.

Addressing the meeting, the Principal Secretary informed that under this program, a Purskar of Rs 3 lakh was being provided to those villages, where 100 per cent population was covered under latrine scheme.

He regretted that till date, the progress under this scheme was very poor in the state and called upon the officers to lay special focus to implement all the centrally sponsored schemes.

He said that under the Central government's scheme, lots of funds were being released for the welfare of the people and to get maximum utility of these schemes, the progress should be reviewed at short spans.

He also directed the Officers to create awareness among the people regarding Nirmal Gram Purskar Yojana, as it ensured a hygienic environment and better health for them.
