Shillong, Sep 14 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today accused the Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government of failing on developmental front.

He also accused the Congress high command of 'playing a big joke' with Meghalaya by frequently changing chief ministers.

''The law and order situation in the state is not conducive to investors. Besides, ISI sponsored terrorism has also disturbed the peaceful atmosphere in Meghalaya,'' Mr Singh said.

''Corruption is rampant and no single work of development has been done by this government,'' the BJP chief said.

However, he assured the people that the BJP would ensure development if voted to power in the state.

Meghalaya goes to assembly polls early next year.

The BJP president also urged the Assam government to prepare the National Register of Citizens (NRC), 1951 to weed out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from that state.

''The Assam government should prepare the NRC at the earliest to check illegal immigrants,'' he said.

He also accused Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of making a false assurance on updating the NRC, even when it did not exist anywhere in Assam.

Later, Mr Singh, who addressed a public meeting, lambasted the UPA government on the price rise which had affected the common man in the country.
