Committee agrees to buy clothes from Pontex, Ponfab

Puducherry, Sep 14 (UNI) The 22-member Legislature Committee, headed by R Viswanathan (CPI), looking into the issue of purchase of clothes from Pontex and Ponfab, today decided to purchase clothes from these mills, provided that a certificate from the Quality Control Department of the AFT Mills here is obtained.

According to official sources, the Committee, in its first meeting, asked the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to conduct a survey to find out the number of handloom weavers here, the stocks with Pontex and Ponfab and to submit a report within three months.

It also directed Pontex and Ponfab to take initiatives to weave polyester clothes.
