AP Govt to implement 'Arogya Sri' in 5 districts: YSR

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 14 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government will implement 'Arogya Sri' health insurance scheme in five districts from December, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy announced today.

Participating in the inauguration of 'Indiramma' housing colony near S Annavaram village in East Godavari district, he said the scheme would be implemented in East Godavari, West Godavari, Nellore, Ranga Reddy and Chittoor districts to provide free medical treatment to BPL families.

The scheme was being implemented in Anantapur, Mahaboobnagar and Srikakulam districts on a pilot basis.

Stating that the Government would complete Polavaram irrigation project in the next three or four years, Dr Reddy said basic amenities like drinking water and roads would be provided in all Indiramma villages, besides constructing houses for the poor.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed old age pension and house pattas to beneficiaries.
