12 bodies of train mishap recoverd

Gonda/Lucknow, Sep 14: At least 12 bodies of victims of the Lucknow-Gorakhpur intercity express mishap have been recovered so far from river Saryu in Colonejganj area of Gonda district since last evening.

According to police, most among the dead were 'kanwariyas'.The Gonda passenger train had stopped near Ghagra-Saryu bridge after some commuters pulled its chain.They were hit by the Lucknow-Gorakhpur intercity express, while crossing the railway tracks. Few escaped death by plunging into the river. Irked over the incident, a mob blocked the route and torched a cabin at nearby station.

Police in strength had been deployed. However, situation has resorted to normal.
