10 lynched by villagers in Vaishali district

Hajipur, Sep 13: Altogether ten people were lynched by villagers for committing theft at Dhelphorwa village under Rajapakar police station area in Vaishali district during early today.

District Magistrate Lallan Singh said here a group of nomads committed theft in the house of one Mithilesh Rai in the village.

The irate villagers later caught them and started beating them up mercilessly. Ten people died and one person was seriously injured in the incident. The injured had been rushed to the local sadar hospital.

Stolen articles, including jewellery and others were recovered from the possession of the deceased, Mr Singh said.

The deceased were yet to be identified. DM and SP Aupma Nilaker were camping at the spot.

No arrest had been made in this connection so far.
