Musharraf for movement in Pak-India composite dialogue
Islamabad, Sept 13 (UNI) Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf today underscored the need of further movement in the ongoing composite dialogue process with India for resolution of outstanding issues, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
He said this while talking to US Deputy Secretary John Negroponte, who called on him here today. Negroponte is on a two-day visit to Pakistan. Yesterday, he co-chaired the second round of Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue with the Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan.
The talks also focused on Pakistan-US relations, counter-terrorism, and regional issues.
The President underscored the importance Pakistan attached to a broad-based, long-term and sustainable relationship with the US.
He reaffirmed Pakistan's firm resolve to fight extremism and terrorism and highlighted the efforts Pakistan was making to address these complex challenges.
Deputy Secretary Negroponte underlined US commitment to a long term relationship with Pakistan and said the US fully recognised Islamabad's strong resolve to fight extremism and terrorism and appreciated its counter-terrorism efforts.
