Japan ruling party leadership poll set for September 23

TOKYO, Sep 13 (Reuters) Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will hold a leadership poll on September. 23 to pick a successor to outgoing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe following his sudden decision to resign, a party executive said today.

The LDP president is assured the premiership since the ruling coalition has a huge majority in parliament's powerful lower house.
