Conclave at IAC 2007 on Business in Aerospace

Bangalore, Sep 13: International Astronautical Congress 2007 (IAC), to be held in Hyderabad later this month will have a three day Conclave on business opportunities in Aerospace and Space.

Cohosted with DRDO the three-day Conclave to be held from September 25 would highlight the opportunities in the field on the backdrop of Global aerospace market forecast to be at US dollars 1380 billion by 2009.

According to an IAC release the Conclave aimed to foster and nourish building close relations for business engagements among researchers, manufacturers, service providers, investors and governments. Business Conclave has been conceptualized with a commerce perspective for the Global Aerospace and Industries to explore business opportunities.

Speakers from some of the leading organizations in Space technology, Astronauts, Aeronautics, Avionics and Application technology such as GIS, DTH, VSAT among others would be addressing the Conclave. Prominent speakers include-Dr Kasturirangan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former Chairman ISRO, Mr Liam Weston, Advanced Systems Manager, Ball Aerospace&Technologies Corp. Mr James Zimmerman- President, International Astronautical Federation (IAF), Mr James F Mitchell, Director, Boeing and Mr H Neal Hammond, Vice President-United Space Alliance.

The Conclave would explore- Business Opportunities in Space GIS and High Resolution Imagery Market, Space Exploration and Manned Missions, Commercial Launch Opportunities and Needs, Growing DTH, VSAT and Broadcasting Markets and Space Components, Materials and Engineering Services.

ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair in the release said ''the Conclave was planned to highlight the huge market to the Indian companies and open India"s capability to the world''. He said it was important for the country to set a higher national agenda and encourage public private partnerships as it was essential to bring minds of researchers and Marketers together. Otherwise the country would be left behind, he added.

He said that Aerospace could be a difficult market to enter, with barriers and pitfalls that need to be understood to be avoided. The business Conclave would address the broad landscape of the aerospace market and highlight upstream/downstream technology challenges and business opportunities.
