UP: Case regst against 70 police officials

government
today
registered
cases
against
70
police
officials,
including
12
IPS
officials
for
their
alleged
involvement
in
the
'police
recruitment
scam'
during
previous
Mulayam
Singh
Yadav
regime.
The enquiry committee probing the scam has recommneded registering of corruption cases against 12 senior police officials, 18 Additional SPs and 40 DSPs, informed Mr Brijlal, Additional Director General of Police, Crime and Law&Order.
Cases has been registered under various provisions of IPC including 420, 419, 467, 468 and 471 and has been sent to police stations concerning 14 recruitment boards for enquiry, said the Additional DGP.
Most of the 6504 policemen whose services have been terminated have surrendered their kits and equipments, added Mr Brijlal.
The suspended officials include Chavinath Singh and RN Yadav(both IG rank), SK Mathur, BP Jogdand, Shailendra Pratap Singh, BN Tripathi, BB Bakshi and Akhilesh Mehrotra (all DIGs) and SK Gupta and K Satyanarayan(both SP rank) All these appointments have been made during the previuos Mulayam Singh Yadav government in 2005-2006. The action of cancellation of appointments and suspension of senior police officials has been initiated after the enquiry report on the 'scam'.
State principal secretary (Home) JN Chamber told mediapersons here that of the suspended officer two are of IG rank, eight of DIG rank and the rest of SP rank.
