Bhubaneswar, Sep 13 (UNI) The All Orissa BPUT Students Association (AOBSA) today demanded a change in the examination pattern of bachelor in technology and till than the year back system be abolished.

AOBSA convener Subhashi Mishra and Sashank Mishra told newsmen here that over 10,000 students of different classes of B tech discipline in the private engineering colleges in Orissa have suffered immensely due to the year back system imposed by the Biju Pattnaik University of Technology (BPUT).

They alleged that the examination fixture, the publication of the results and the evaluation of papers of the BPUT had to be improved and streamlined.

And till then the BPUT should introduce a promotion system for all the students till the fourth year and then provide the provisional certificates so that the students selected in the campus interview would be suitably employed.

The students leader said it was highly irrational and illogical not to promote the students to 4th year with a single back paper in the first year.

They also alleged that the examination papers were evaluated by the teachers whose academic proficiency were in doubt as they were just passed out of the college and appointed as teachers to evaluate the papers.

The AOBSA demanded that the current year examination result should be cancelled immediately and a revaluation be done by competent teachers at the earliest.

The BPUT students, who staged a demonstration in the capital city last week, demanding the abolition of the year back system, went on a rampage uprooting the iron fencing in the master canteen square and damaging scores of vehicles before being dispersed following police action.
