Tripura second in village electrification pro

Agartala, Sep 12 (UNI) Tripura has covered the second highest number of villages under the rural electrification programme during 2006-07, said Power Minister Manik Dey in the Assembly .

Jharkhand secured the first position by providing electricity to 234 remote villages followed by Tripura and West Bengal,Mr Dey said yesterday referring to Centre's report.

Altogether 6,000 villages have been covered under the programme through non-conventional energy sources during past three years across the country.
