Two wheeler sale dips 5.4 per cent in August
New Delhi, Sep 11: The auto-industry continued to witness sluggish sales in August with two-wheeler motorcycle sale declining by 5.4 per cent at 5,43,504 units.
However, the sale of passenger vehicles increased to 1,25,656 units as against 1,07,246 units in August 2006, according to figures released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer (SIAM) today.
The sale of medium and heavy commercal vehicles also registered a decline at 19,431 units in comparison to 21,110 units during August, 2006.However, the sale of light commercial vehicles grew at 36,409 units in comparison to 35,268 units last year.
The three-wheeler market also registered a decline at 33,588 units as against 34,691 unit during the same period last year.
