Two killed, 28 injured in 3 mishaps
Perambalur, Sep 11 (UNI) Two persons were killed and 28 others injured in two separate road accidents in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu today.
Police said, a 34-year-old lorry driver was charred to death when a lorry transporting oxygen cylinders caught fire after one of them, exploded accidentally, at Chinnar village near here.
Due to the impact, the lorry was damaged severely. Acting on information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and removed the body of the deceased to Government headquarters hospital here for post-mortem.
The lorry was proceeding to Puducherry from Madurai when the mishap occurred.
In another accident, one person was killed and 15 others were injured when a state tranport corporation bus in which they were travelling dashed against a stationery lorry near here.
The bus was proceeding to Madurai from Chennai when the mishap occurred. The deceased was the bus conductor.
The injured were admitted to government headquarters hospital here, police said.
In another mishap, 13 people were injured when a van in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near railway junction here.
Police said the van was coming from Courtallam while the lorry was coming in the opposite direction, the accident occurred.
