Srinagar, Sep 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced that Tulmulla in Ganderbal district, famous for Khir Bhawani temple, would be developed as a model village.

During his visit to the shrine, he met a deputation of locals who projected some development demands of the area.

Mr Azad said his government would develop Tulmulla as a model village and work out a project for construction of internal roads, drains, lanes and a community hall under the model village scheme.

Drinking water supply for the village would also be augmented.

The Chief Minister said Tulmulla was already declared a tourist village for which the Centre had sanctioned Rs 50 lakh to raise the basic facilities.

Development projects under model and tourist village schemes would be integrated to upgrade facilities in Tulmulla, a major pilgrim centre because of Khir Bhawani temple, he added.

Mr Azad said the government was planning to lay a separate water supply line for the shrine complex and the surrounding population in Tulmulla village to meet their potable water requirement.
