Traffic cop dragged by bike-borne youth

Hoshiarpur, Sept 11 (UNI) A Punjab police traffic constable was injured when he was dragged by a motorcyclist near the local Government College crossing here this afternoon.

According to the police sources, while on duty Sarabjit Singh signalled to stop a youth on motorcycle, later identified as Ashant Sahni of Tagore Nagar and asked him to show the papers of the vehicle.

Instead of showing papers, the motorcyclist allegedly speeded up his vehicle.

In an attempt to stop him, Sarabjit Singh gripped the carrier of the motorcycle. Instead of stopping the vehicle, Ashant Sahni allegedly raced the motorcycle due to which Sarabjit Singh was dragged to some distance and got injured. He was admitted in a local Civil Hospital.

Model Town Police has registered a case under sections 332, 353, 186 and 279 of the IPC against the motorcyclist.
