Tight security for Ganesh Chaturthi fest in AP

Visakhapatnam, Sep 11 (UNI) The city Police Commissioner N Sambasiva Rao today said elaborate security arragements were made for peaceful celebrations of the nine-day Vinayaka Puja festival starting from September 15.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the police would maintain regular pickets in all major junctions and pandals.

Regarding 'Visarjan', Immersion of idols, at Ramakrishna Beach on the third, fifth and ninth day, Mr Rao said the fisheries Department would depute about 100 trained Swimmers and fire department had also agreed to provide a few more swimmers and life jackets.

He said the police would deploy four patrol vehicles, and the place and route of the immersion would be briefed in advance to the people.

Vulgar dance and obscene songs would be strictly prohibited, during the festival, he added.
