TDP accuses govt of ''revenue-driven'' Excise Policy
Hyderabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Accusing the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh of pursuing a ''revenue-driven'' Excise Policy, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu today called upon women to destroy all ''illegal liquor shops'' in the State.
Speaking, on the occasion, after actress-turned-politician Roja assumed charge as party's women wing President, he said revenue from sale of liquor had gone up three-fold to Rs 9,000 crore during the Congress regime.
He also gave a call to women to protest against the State Government's ''large scale'' auctioning of government lands and denying land to the poor for cultivation and housing.
Despite the government's claims, a large number of women belonging to SHGs, were not provided loans at three per cent interest, he claimed.
Ms Roja warned the government that it would have to incur the wrath of women if it went ahead with its policy of promoting liquor sale in a big way to fill the State exchequer.
