Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati attacks Centre on Ram Setu issue
Allahabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Jagadguru Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati today said the statement and affidavit of the central government concerning Ram Setu (Adam's Bridge) was ''totally illusive and absurd.'' The Centre in its affidavit filed in High Court yesterday had said the war between Lord Ram and demon king Ravan never took place and Ram Setu was not a man-made bridge.
Talking to newspersons here, the pontiff noted that Lord Ram was the soul of the nation and the Centre must apologise to the countrymen for its affidavit.
Comparing the Centre with the British rulers, he added that the contention of the Centre was short-sighted.
He announced a 'chakka-jam' on September 12 to protect Ram Setu.
Further, the swami welcomed the Allahabad High Court observation that the Hindu holy text Bhagwad Gita be regarded as 'Rashtriya Dharma Shashtra'.
He has requested the Centre to act accordingly in the matter.
