Samalkha residents hold protests over killing of doctor

Panipat, Sept 11 (UNI) Residents of Samalkha today demonstrated in the town and kept their shops and business establishments closed to protest over the killing of Dr Ved Prakash, who was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in his clinic late last night.

Even as the compounder raised an alarm in the clinic, he assailant managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The dotor was rushed to a private hospital in Panipat where the doctors declared him brought dead.

After receiving information, police registered a case under section 302 and 304 of IPC and section 24, 54 and 59 of Arms Act against the unknown assailant.

Enraged over the incident, the residents of Samalkha demonstrated in the town and kept their shops and business establishments closed throughout the day.

They also tried to block the GT road but the police persuaded them to disperse.

The last rites of the deceased were performed this afternoon.
