Salem Railway Div issue; Law students attempt suicide

Coimbatore, Sep 11 (UNI) Tension prevailed for more than one hour near Gandhipuram bus stand here when two law college students attempted to jump from a four-storeyed building, demanding inclusion of Coimbatore and Tirupur in the new Salem Railway division.

According to police, the students, Sakthivel and Krishnan, went to the terrace of the building and raised slogans against the Kerala government.

After hearing the incident, more than 50 students rushed to the spot and resorted to a road roko for more than an hour. However, police pacified them and restored normalcy.

About 20 college students, who began a fast yesterday, were continuing today also.
