Salcomp launches manufacturing unit in Chennai

Chennai, Sep 11 (UNI) Salcomp Manufacturing India Private Limited, engaged in designing, manufacturing and marketing chargers for mobile phones, launched its manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur, near here, today.

The manufacturing unit was inaugurated by State Social Welfare Minister Poongothai and Finland Ambassador Asko Numminen.

Spread over 12,000 sqft, the unit would provide employment opportunities for over 2,000 people.

Salcomp Indian Operations Director Arto Makela said ''Salcomp's investment in India is to address, drive and support the growth of Indian mobile industry and serve its customers better.'' He said the company aimed at developing a strong supplier base within India, especially in South India. In line with this, it had targetted to fully localise sourcing of mechanics, cable assembly, printed circuit boards, transformers and packing for two identified product variants by this year-end.
