Safdarjung Hospital to be revamped, restructured: Ramadoss
New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) As part of the Government's initiative to upgrade healthcare services, the Safdarjung Hospital here will be revamped over the next six to seven years, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss announced today.
''The maspterplan is being worked and the hospital will be turned into a state-of-art facility which will provide world class services,'' Dr Ramadoss told reporters after inaugurating the Nursing College at Lady Hardinge Medical College.
He said the revamp of hospital, established in 1944, will cost about Rs 2000 crore and discussions were in progress with the Finance Ministry and the Planning Commission for the same.
''The project will commence soon and at the same time the heritage value of the institution will be restored,'' he added.
About the recent allegations that three members of a family, including two children, died outside the burns ward of Safdarjung Hospital allegedly after being refused treatment, the Minister said the patients could not be admitted due to non availability of beds.
He said an inquiry was ordered into the incident.
