Pumping of water from the ship to be continued

Mangalore, Sep 11 (UNI) Water pumping from the tilted Chinese ship 'Cheng Le Men' about 1400 Mts from Tannierbavi beach near new Mangalore port continued today.

Mr Mohan Kudri, the old Mangalore Port officer told UNI here today that since the pumping was slow it might take two more days.

Boths manual and machines have been put into the service to discharge water from the loaded vessel with 16100 tonnes of Iron Ore fines.

He said that dumping of iron ore fines would be solved if cargo was shifted to the left side with the help of excavator which would be taken to the vessel with the help of a barge.

The mobilisation of men and equipment were underway and two tugs one from Mumbai and one from New Mangalore port trust (NMPT)would be deployed here for the purpose. A total 14 experts were working on the salvage operation, he said.
