PM to release Dev Anand's autobiography on Sept 26

Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will release the autobiography of legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand in the presence of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on September 26.

Addressing mediapersons here today, the veteran actor said ''The book, 'Romancing with Life', will be released at the Prime Minister's official residence in the presence of an august gathering of 100 invitees, which will also coincide with my birthday and the Prime Minister's.'' The actor in his trademark style, said ''Leave your mark on the sands of time. That is what immortality is all about. I came to Mumbai from Lahore with Rs 30 in my pocket and a dream to make it big as an actor. After struggling for two-and-a-half years, I made it big.'' ''The book does not belong to me. It belongs to the people of my country whom I have met in my journey. People who have known me for 70-80 years, will know that it is written honestly and the reflection of words are all mine,'' he said.

''I have enjoyed every chapter of my life. However, some chapters have not been included in the book due to lack of space. My motto in life is 'Live life optimistically'. There are tremendous highs and tremendous lows. Enjoy every moment of it,'' observed the actor.

When quizzed about the difference between writing a book and a film, Dev Anand replied ''I feel as though I am not releasing a book but an epic of my life.'' ''Another book? It will depend on the response of the readers,'' he replied to a query.

'Romancing with Life' will be launched in Mumbai on September 27 at the ITC Maratha and on October 13 in London.

Published by Penguin, the autobiography will be available in all leading book stores across the world at Rs 695, 30 British Pounds and 35 US Dollars.
