No revision, hike in property taxes: CM

Hyderabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said there would be no revision or hike in property taxes for residential purposes whatsoever, except in underassessed or unassessed cases.

Instructing the municipal administration officials while reviewing the issues pertaining to them Dr Reddy said , ''if any municipality or corporation hiked or revised the property taxes after 2004, it had to nullify the order.'' The Chief Minister said municipalities should improve their non-tax revenue instead of burdening the people and asked them to identify lands to open commercial complexes to supplement income.

The government would bear the land cost and commercial complexes would be built on private public partnership mode on BOT basis, enabling the administration to use the revenue accrued, he added.
