New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The pleasantness in the weather in Delhi, brought about by short burst of rainfall over the last few days, continued today with the North Westerly winds bringing down the mercury to 34.2 degrees Celsius.

Though the Sun shone clear and bright in the sky this morning, after two by and large cloudy days, the North Westerlies maintained a coolness in the air in the capital, after short bursts of moderate rainfall on Sunday and yesterday.

The maximum temperature fell to 34.2 degrees, the normal temperature at this time of the year, from 34.8 degrees yesterday.

The minimum also fell to 25.2 degrees, from 26 degrees yesterday.

For the past few days, Delhi has been hit by moderate to heavy showers which have kept the mercury at near normal levels, providing Delhiites respite from hot and humid conditions of last week.

Weatherman say the turnaround in the weather in Delhi since the weekend was largely due to the influence of a North-South trough.

The trough could result in more short bursts of rainfall in Delhi and other parts of Northwest India during the next four to five days.

''Numerical weather prediction models suggest that subdued rainfall activity is likely to continue over plains of North-West India during the next 4-5 days,''the Met office said.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thundry development in some areas.
