Municipal council member arrested in adulteration racket

Akola, Sep 11 (UNI) Washim Municipal Council Water Supply Committee chairman Arun Sarnaik has surrendered before the police in connection with an adulteration case.

Sarnaik was produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody till September 13.

The police had unearthed a racket of petrol and diesel adulteration on March 31 this year after they seized a tanker, 58 drums and 12,000 litres of naphtha the building complex of late Ramrao Sarnaik College of Physical Education.

Seven persons -- Prashant Namdeo Nadgude, Sunjitsing, Jogindersing, Bhimrao Dudhade, Vilas Bhagat, SK Shabbir, and Sunil Telgote were arrested at that time. Sarnaik was allegedly the king pin in the racket but had not been arrested so far.
