MCD Comm pulled up for indiscriminate transfers of officials
New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Municipal councillors, cutting across party lines, today pulled up the MCD Commissioner for indiscriminate transfers of officials in the past few weeks.
Raising the issue in a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee, Rajni Abbi of the BJP said no transfers of officials be carried out without obtaining the permission of the House.
Drawing attention in this regard to a series of adverse judgements from various courts which had pulled up the Commissioner for indiscriminately transferring of MCD officials, Ms Abbi said, ''indiscriminately transferring officials is not advisable as the courts have observed.'' On his part, the commissioner sought to defend his action claiming that the transfer of officials was a routine exercise and something which was his prerogative.
The statement was, however, met with protests from several members.
Leader of the Opposition in the MCD House Jaikishen Sharma said such an arbitrary behaviour on part of the commissioner could not be allowed in view of the court orders.
Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta directed the Commissioner that henceforth no more unnecessary and arbitrary transfers be carried out in the administration.
