Lok Satta demands curb on perjury for fair justice
Hyderabad, Sept 11 (UNI) The Lok Satta today demanded that perjury should be curbed for a fair criminal justice.
Addressing newspersons here in the wake of the arrest of Venkat Rao, son of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President K Keshava Rao, in connection with the death of his realtor friend Prashanth Reddy, Lok Satta National Coordinator Jayaprakash Narayan said most of the times, the courts remained helpless, when evidence was not forthcoming. He emphasised that evidence tampering should, therefore, be dealt with strictly.
The bureaucrat-turned-politician wanted leaders in all walks of life to set an example by not trying to protect their sons and daughters involved in crime and ensure that crime did not go unpunished.
He stressed the need for an independent crime investigation, good forensic and technical infrastructure, high degree of professionalism in police and a strong perjury law.
Based on a complaint from the parents of Prashanth Reddy, the city police had registered a murder case against the Congress leader's son.
