Chennai, Sep 11 (UNI) Noted film personality and founder of Latchiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (LDMK) Vijaya T Rajendhar today announced snapping of ties with the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that his party had been sidelined by the DMK.

''During the last Assembly elections, Mr Karunanidhi needed our support to take on MDMK leader Vaiko, who quit the DMK-led alliance'', he said adding that however, after the elections, the LDMK was not given due respect and was not even invited for the all-party meeting convened to discuss various issues. He said his party would not align with any party, but play a constructive role on its own.

Party's general council would meet on September 14 to chalk out the future course of action and the party's re-designed flag would be unveiled the next day, he said adding that he would undertake a state-wide tour to mobilise support.

Mr Rajendhar was once the propaganda secretary of the DMK.

However, he had quit the party and joined the AIADMK. His association with the AIADMK too did not last long as he quit the party to float his own LDMK. On the eve of the 2006 Assembly elections, he had extended support to the DMK and barely one and a half years after, he chose to sever links with the DMK again.
