Jawan killed, another hurt, three Jaish militants held in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 11 (UNI) Militants killed a security personnel and wounded another while three ultras belonging to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

Militants attacked a search party at Bawan Watsar in Rajwar area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district last night. Security forces also retaliated and in the ensuing half-an-hour-long gun-battle, a security personnel lost his life while another was wounded.

Militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

The spokesman said three Jaish militants were apprehended by police at Tral Payeen in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today.

The arrested militants have been identified as Mehraj-Din Bhat, Javed Ahmad Naik and Noor Mohammad Zargar (all residents of Tral).

A pistol, one pistol magazine, three grenades and 60 AK rounds were seized from their possession, he added.

The spokesman said security forces seized three magazines, one hand grenade, one wireless antenna, a transistor and 67 rounds from the forest area at Jabri Mohalla Marhote in Surankote area of Poonch district last evening during a search operation.
