ICWAI to conduct Global Summit on Jan 10

Chennai, Sept 11 (UNI) The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) will conduct a 'Global Summit' on Management Accounting at New Delhi on January 10.

The three-day summit, the first of its kind in the country, would bring all the leading management accountng bodies to discuss the strategic repositioning.

Talking to newspersons here today, ICWAI President Chandra Wadhwa said ICWAI would be the main host of the summit, which will be jointly hosted by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh(ICMAB) and Institute and the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (SCMASL).

Mr Wadhwa said the UK-based CIMA, CMA Cannada and IMA US were the technical partners for the summit.

Dr Robert Kaplan, known for his contribution to management accounting through the 'Balanced Scorecard' and a Professor of Harvad Business School had consented to give the key note address, he said, adding that leading CFOs from Indian Multinational Enterprises, would also address the delegates.

He said the range of topics in the summit would include repositioning of the management accountant as a strategist and performace management specialist, management accountant in SME sector, management accounting practices in service sector and government spending, management accounting in enhancing corporate governance to enterprise governance and management accounting practices in SAARC countries.

''We are expecting around 800 delegates to participate from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Gulf countries'', he said, adding as a part of the summit the heads of the global CMA bodies were also meeting in a round-table Conference to forumulate an action plan, leading to global strategy for branding and positioning the management accountant.
