Haryana offices to replace incandescent bulbs by Jan 1

Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) The Haryana government plans to replace all incandescent bulbs and T-12 and T-8 tube lights in all offices and buildings of the government with energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) or T-5 tube lights by January 1 next.

Besides, the offices and buildings of all the state boards, corporations, educational institutions and technical institutions would also be covered under this drive.

This was stated by Financial Commisioner and Principal Secretary (Power) Ashok Lavasa while presiding over an operation review meeting of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam at New Delhi today.

He said the Haryana government had taken this decision to give impetus to electricity conservation in the state during the 'Save Electricity Year'.

He said in Haryana Civil Secretariat, New Secretariat and all other government buildings at Chandigarh/Panchkula, all mini secretariats, all HUDA buildings, All PWD buildings, circuit houses and rest houses will be provided with electricity efficient lighting by November 1 while rest of the offices and buildings were to have CFLs and T-5 tube lights by January 1 next.

All traditional street lighting fixtures presently maintained by municipal corporations/councils/committees would be replaced with energy efficient street lighting by November 1 and the street lighting being maintained by HUDA, HSIDC, Marketing Board and Housing Board would be replaced with electricity efficient lighting by January 1, he added.
