Girl student makes hoax bomb calls in AP

Vijayawada, Sep 11 (UNI) Four hoax bomb calls made by a 13-year-old girl student of a private school today kept the city police on tenterhooks in this district of Andha Pradesh.

Talking to newspersons here, City Central Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sriramachandra Murthy said ''Police received anonymous calls that a bomb has been planted at SKPV School.'' The calls were traced to a PCO at the school and investigations revealed the girl had made the calls.

The student informed police she had made the calls as she was suffering from an eye problem and wanted to go home.

She confessed to making similar calls to three other schools and said she drew inspiration from television and newspaper reports.Mr Murthy said the girl was reprimanded and was let off.

Sources said panic-stricken students rushed out of classes and bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs made a thorough search of the premises even as police traced the caller.
