Four held for robbery, booty worth Rs 29 lakh seized

Akola, Sep 10 (UNI) Four youths from Madhya Pradesh were today arrested by the Akola police near Akot for allegedly looting a manager of Agri Company and about Rs 29 lakh in case seized from them.

The accused have been identified as Ramesh Omkarmal Chavan (22), Jitendra Manoharsing Sisodiya (25), Vikas Kamalsing Sisodiya (18) and Prakash Ramesh Manekan (25), all residents of Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

Addressing a news conference here this evening, Superintendent of Police Deepak Pande said the four-member gang travelling in a white- coloured Tata Sumo intercepted an Indica car near village Washimba on Akola-Murtizapur road at around 1200 hrs and threw chilli powder in the eyes of Kamal Vidyasagar Paliwal, Manager of Ambika Soyaben factory, when he was en route to deposit about Rs 29 lakh cash in a local bank.

Mr Paliwal immediately lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with the nearest police station, stating that Rs 29,21,001 cash and a mobile worth Rs 5,000 were stolen by the occupants of the Tata Sumo, he added.

The concerned police station alerted the district police, who immediately swung into action. and sealed all the exit points in the district Mr Pande said. At Akot, a police team, led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Mr Bobde, intercepted the Sumo and checked the vehicle. Upon finding the cash, the foursome were taken into custody. They were nabbed within an hour after the crime was committed, Mr Pande added.
