Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 11 (UNI) The community kitchen of historical Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib here will soon go hi-tech with installation of a massive automatic 'chapatti' making machine.

The Rs 10 lakh machine has the capacity to make and process 3,000 to 5,000 'parsadas' (chapattis) per hour according to the multi-speed systems as per the requirements, Gurdwara Manager Jagir Singh said here today.

This would boost the 'langar seva' (free community food service) an important part of Sikh religion, he said. Thousands of people partake of the langar daily at the Gurdwara, he added.

The decision was taken at meetings of two sub-committees of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee held today at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, which falls under 'A' category of the SGPC-run Sikh shrines.

Mr Jagir Singh informed that some important discussions took place during both meetings and some cases were referred to interim committee of the SGPC for the final approval.

The meeting also decided that free dispensary would be set up in the Gurdwara. A museum and a library having relics and books related to Sikh religion would also be set up at the Gurdwara.

About 24 staff quarters will be constructed in the Gurdwara, he said, adding that the matter of construction of overbridge near the shrine was also discussed in the meeting.
