Excise officials seized liquor in Kolhapur Dist

Kolhapur, Sep 11 (UNI) The officials of Excise (Kolhapur division) today seized liquor worth about Rs 2 lakh in Chandgad tehsil of the district.

The Excise officials were monitoring the smuggling of liquor in Maharashtra from Goa in Chandgad tehsil, when they stopped a car on suspicion. Instead of stopping, the car driver sped off. Then the squad gave a hot chase and intercepted it at Tilari Ghat. On checking the vehicle, the officials found five boxes of foreign-made liquor, which were seized. However, the car driver and another one gave them a slip, Excise sources said, adding they have impounded the vehicle.
