Deportation of Nawaz against democratic principles: Maulana Fazlur
Islamabad, Sept 11 (UNI) Terming yesterday's deportation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against democratic principles, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that he would try to meet the re-exiled leader in Saudi Arabia.
''Sending Nawaz to live again in exile stands in conflict with democracy,'' he said, talking to journalists at Karachi Airport before departing for Umrah.
On the future course of action, Maulana Fazlur, who is General Secretary of the six-party Islamic alliance, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), said that the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) would observe today as a protest day against Nawaz's exile.
Noting the APDM's leadership is under house arrest, he said the next course of action would be worked out as soon as they come out.
Police had arrested MMA's Liaquat Baloch and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leaders Javed Hashmi and Raja Zafarul Haq on Sunday night.
MMA President Qazi Hussain has been put under house arrest as he was ill.
