AP PCC chief Keshav Rao calls on Sonia, quits post

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh PCC chief K Keshav Rao today submitted his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the wake of the arrest of his son, K Venkat Rao in a murder case.

Talking to reporters after meeting Ms Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence here, Mr Rao said his conscience did not allow him to continue as PCC chief in view of the allegations against his son in the case relating to the murder of one Prashant Reddy.

Ms Gandhi appreciated his move, he said.

He said he told the Congress President that opposition leaders were of the opinion that he would influence the investigations in the case if he continued as PCC chief.

As a leader of the people, he could not take such aspersions, he said.
