ACICM sets 10-day deadline to shift, shelve Chamlapura project
Mysore, Sept 11 (UNI) The Association Concerned and Interested Citizens of Mysore (ACICM), spearheading an agitation against the proposed Chamalapura Thermal Power Plant, today set a 10-day deadline asking the Karnataka Government to either shelve the project or shift its site.
''Once the deadline ends, the ACICM would launch agitations, in phases, till the 550MW project, which would have adverse impact on environment and displaced farmers, is shelved,'' Association Convenor M Lakshmana told newspersons here.
He said in the first phase, farmers would launch 'Rajbhavan Chalo', to be followed by an indefinite hungerstrike in front of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's house in Bangalore.
Demonstrations would also be held in front of the office of eight companies, vying for the project.
