16 killed in three road accidents in Karnataka

Bangalore, Sep 11 (UNI) Sixteen people were killed and several others injured in three separate road accidents in Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada and Davanagere districts of the state today.

According to police, seven people were killed and several injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus rammed into an autorickshaw on the National Highway 17 in Bhatkal town this morning.

While four persons died on the spot, three others succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

In another incident, six persons were killed and another seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Rayapura in Molakalmur taluk in Chitradurga district today.

In the third accident, three women were killed when the roof of their house collapsed in the wee hours at Hachangidurga in Davanagere district.

The deceased were identified as Siddavva (14), Geeta (12) and Halamma (40), The roof caved-in following heavy rain yesterday, police added.
