Nagaland: 1 killed in inter-factional clash near kiphire district

Kohima, Sep 11 : A NSCN-IM cadre has been killed in an inter-factional clash Salumi village near Kiphire district headquarters.

Official sources here today said a group of the NSCN(K) tried to overrun a rival camp in the area yesterday, which was followed by a gun-battle for over five hours, leaving one NSCN-IM cadre dead.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, both factions also clashed at Pungro under Kiphire district yesterday, where one NSCN (K) cadre was reportedly injured.

On receiving the information, Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, along with Assam Rifles, Gaon Burahs and public leaders rushed to the spot and pacified the warring cadres of rival NSCN factions.

Although, the situation was under control, both the factions had called for re-enforcement, which may deteriorate the situation, sources added.
