Indian, Russian paratroops to hold joint exercises

Moscow, Sep 10 (UNI) Indian and Russian paratroops will hold special joint tactical exercises, including a joint landing drill, at the Russian "Kresty" Air Force Garrison in the Pskov region from September 11 to 20, the spokesman for the Russian Air Force Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky said today.

Drobyshevsky said airborne troops of the Military-Transport division of the 334th Berlin Air Force regiment of the Red Banner and the 110th Komsomolsky Transilvania Air Force regiment will take part in the joint exercises.

The schedule of the exercises envisaged around nine landing operations from the aircraft in which more than 200 Russian and Indian paratroops will take part, he told Itar-Tass news agency.

During the exercises on September 16, about 60 paratroops from each side will land from one Russian and one Indian Il-76 planes onto a landing site of Kislovo in the Pskov region, Drobyshevsky said.

The aim of the joint exercises is to practice interaction of the Russian Military Transport Aviation with other armed services of the Russian and Indian Armed Forces and improve landing skills of paratroops.
