Ensure due legal process, uphold rule of law: Britain to Pakistan

London, Sep 10 (UNI) The British government today called upon Pakistan to ensure that due legal and judicial process is followed and the rule of law upheld, commenting on the developments in which former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was deported to Saudi Arabia after his arrival from London, ending a period of exile.

A spokesperson at the Foreign and Commonwealth office said, '' We are concerned about the latest developments and call upon the Government of Pakistan to ensure that due legal and judicial process is followed and the rule of law upheld.'' '' We strongly support free and fair elections in Pakistan, which provide a platform for full participation in the polling process''.

'' We want to see a prosperous, peaceful, secure and stable Pakistan that is in the interest of the people of Pakistan,'' the spokesman added.

Reports, meanwhile, said Nawaz Sharif's wife Kalsuma Nawaz, who is in the UK, has decided to return to Pakistan soon.
