Ready to face mid-term polls: BJP
New Delhi, Sep 10: The BJP today asserted that it was ready for mid-term elections, which it claimed may be thrusted upon the country due to ''mishandling'' of the nuclear deal issue by the UPA government.
Saying it was keeping a ''vigilant watch'' over the unfolding events, BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra termed ''unfortunate'' the attitude of the Government in rejecting Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee to go into the Indo-US nuclear deal instead of a ''partisan and private panel of the ruling benches''.
''The attitude of the UPA has pushed Parliament towards an adjournment a few days ahead of schedule. Had the government listened to Opposition's advice, the country could have taken a considered national view of the issue through the JPC,'' he added.
