3 reporters arrested for conducting a sting operation

New Delhi, Sept 10 (UNI) Three reporters were today arrested from North Avenue area of New Delhi district while allegedly conducting a sting operation.

Pankaj Gupta, Ratan Deep Gupta and Rajiv Patel were arrested on the complaint of two MPs from Jharkhand, said a senior police officer.

The reporters, aged between 22-26 years, who lived in Vasundhara Enclave, had reportedly offered five per cent commission to the MPs, on a Rs 18 cr project, which was to be implemented in tribal dominated areas of Jharkhand.

The complaint was registered yesterday and the arrests were made today after the reporters came to allegedly conduct the sting operation.

The reporters, whose channel/publication identity has not been disclosed, posed as the private secretaries of a senior official of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Raids were also conducted on their Mayur Vihar office premises, during which, some incriminating documents were seized.

The documents and interrogation details were being verified, the official added.
